English Practice: The Sunday Refactoring

Phase 1: Weekly Input (The Sunday Refactoring)

"You know, I’ve been thinking. Our living room is getting a bit cluttered with all these things we don't really use. Maybe it’s time for a bit of a 'refactor' for our home? I’m not saying we should toss everything out, but if we could just clear some space, it would feel a lot more open.

What do you think about moving the bookshelf to the other side? It might give us more room to breathe. Honestly, I’m all for keeping things simple. My rule of thumb is: if it doesn’t add value or bring us joy, maybe it doesn’t need to stay in the middle of the room. It’s just a small adjustment, but I think it could make a world of difference for our Sunday relaxation."

Vocabulary & Phrases

  • cluttered: 形容東西堆疊雜亂。
  • room to breathe: 喘息空間,形容環境寬敞。
  • I’m all for...: 我非常贊成... (強烈表達意願)。
  • rule of thumb: 經驗法則。
  • make a world of difference: 產生巨大的影響/改善。

試著用這些句型,針對家裡的另外一個場景(例如:廚房、書房,或者單純抱怨天氣太熱需要開冷氣),寫出一小段(約 50-100 字)你的「居家看法」。

Phase 2: Draft My Own Version (Write a short paragraph using at least 2 phrases)

關於廚房的雜物整理,或是最近覺得房間空氣不太流通/太熱,想調整一下配置或設備的心得。

Currently, our kitchen is very cluttered, there is no room to breath when cooking here. I am all for tossing those unused old kitchen tools out. My rule of thumb is only keep those everyday used. I believe it would make a world of difference for our cooking experience.

Phase 3: AI Refactoring (Optimize for natural flow and tone)

Currently, our kitchen is getting cluttered, and it feels like there’s no room to breathe while I'm cooking. I’m all for tossing out those unused kitchen tools that are just taking up space. My rule of thumb is to keep only the essentials that we use every day. I’m convinced that clearing the counters would make a world of difference in our cooking experience.

Phase 4: Spaced Review (Archive and re-read later)
