AWS VPC的internet gateway用來使VPC對外連到網際網路。
VPC內的資源(e.g. EC2 instance)若要能對外連到網際網路或從外部網路連進VPC的資源則其subnet就必須設定internet gateway及關連的route table。
圖示如下，VPC subnets透過internet gateway來存取網際網路。直接關聯到internet gateway的subnet則稱為public subnet。
